Mobile Dimensioning
Early accessPackage dimensions from the phone already in your pocket.
Attensive's measurement engine is camera-agnostic. Where your facility has cameras, we measure from those. Where it doesn't — receiving doors, field pickup, spot checks — a standard smartphone becomes the capture device. Same engine, same structured shipment records, same photo evidence.
How a phone capture becomes shipment data
A four-second guided sweep
Point the phone at the package and sweep a short arc. On phones with motion tracking (ARCore / ARKit) the capture carries camera pose data; on any other phone it degrades gracefully to plain video or a photo — automatically, with no setup.
The shipping label is the ruler
The engine behind our conveyor and dock products recovers the package geometry, then solves real-world scale from what's already in frame: the shipping label of known size, phone motion data, or both cross-checking each other.
A billable record, tied to the waybill
The same capture decodes the AWB barcode, so dimensions, volume, dim weight, confidence, and photo evidence land in your system already linked to the shipment — via API, webhooks, or CSV.
Motion sweep
Phones with ARCore / ARKit add camera pose data to a short sweep — the highest-accuracy tier.
Plain video
No motion tracking? The same sweep works as regular video, measured across multiple frames.
Single photo
One full-resolution photo works on any phone with a camera — and is the sharpest read of the label barcode.
The app picks the best tier the device supports and falls back automatically — no courier is ever blocked by their phone's capabilities.
From sweep to system
What the courier sees. What your system gets.
Illustrative capture — a 4-second guided sweep, measured in the cloud.

}- The AWB is decoded from the label barcode in the same capture — no separate scan step, with manual entry as the fallback.
- Every record carries a photo with the measurement overlay drawn on it — evidence you can show a carrier or customer.
- Scale provenance is explicit: each measurement states whether it was anchored by the label, phone motion, or a placed marker.
Accuracy, proven on your packages first
Handheld accuracy depends on capture distance, package type, and the device in hand, so we don't ask you to take a number on faith. We validate against your real packages before any deployment: send us a short phone video of a few shipments and we send back the measured dimensions, so you can judge the output against a tape measure yourself.
Where it fits
Measurement for the places fixed cameras don't reach.
Receiving without camera coverage
Dimension inbound freight at doors and staging areas that fixed cameras don't reach — without installing anything first.
Field pickup and last mile
Capture shipment dimensions at the customer's location, in the truck, or at a drop point, and have the record in your system before the driver leaves.
Spot checks and billing audits
Verify a carrier's dimensional charges or a customer's declared dimensions on demand, with photo evidence attached to every measurement.
Returns and exceptions
Measure and document damaged, oversized, or non-conveyable items where they sit, instead of routing them to a dimensioning station.
Sites you haven't instrumented yet
Give a new facility or partner location measurement capability on day one, then add fixed-camera coverage when the volume justifies it.
One data format across all of it
Phone captures produce the same structured records as our conveyor and dock products — same API, same exports, same evidence trail.
Why a phone
The capture hardware your team already carries.
vs. dedicated mobile dimensioners
Purpose-built handheld dimensioners cost $1K–$5K per device and become one more thing to charge, manage, and lose. Your team already carries the capture hardware.
vs. tape measures and keyed entry
Manual measurement is slow and the numbers arrive with no proof. Mobile capture is faster and every record carries photo evidence you can show a carrier or customer.
vs. fixed dimensioning stations
Stations only measure what comes to them. The phone measures freight where it sits — and when a location grows, the same platform adds fixed-camera coverage.
Prove it with a 30-second phone video.
We are building mobile dimensioning with early enterprise partners, on the same engine that powers our conveyor and dock products. Film a few of your packages with a phone, send it over, and we'll send back the measurements.
